Connecticut State Senator Michael McLachlan said: “The real purpose of this bill is payback to the bishops and pastors of the Roman Catholic Church in Connecticut for opposing gay marriage.”

I think we need more of this.  Let me qualify that by saying that I have no want to see the government make or enforce any law with respect to religion, but I want them to do some good bluffing.  For too long religious organizations have been able to make vocal minorities seem like popular majorities and have tried to push as much of their agendas as possible on the people via legislation.
